It’s easy to use Tri-Vylibra.
The most important thing to remember is to take your pill at the same time every day, and no more than 24 hours apart. For 21 days in a row, you’ll take the “active” white pill. For the next 7 days in a row, you’ll take the light green “inactive” pill. This helps you stay in the habit of taking a daily pill. Your withdrawal bleed will occur during the week you’re taking your inactive pills, usually within about two to three days of inactive pills.

Tri-Vylibra birth control pills have two main active ingredients: Norgestimate 0.18/0.215/0.25 mg (progesterone) and Ethinyl Estradiol 0.035 mg (estrogen).
Most people who take Tri-Vylibra experience no side effects. If side effects occur, they are usually mild.
Some minor side effects are: headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, fatigue, and decreased sex drive. While very unlikely, serious side effects can occur while taking Tri-Vylibra, including blood clots. Blood clots can travel throughout the bloodstream and block blood flow to different parts of the body. This can cause potentially life-threatening issues like deep vein thrombosis, heart attack, or stroke.

Tri-Vylibra is a combination oral contraceptive pill (cOCP, birth control medication, birth control pills). It prevents pregnancy by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation), and thickening the cervical mucus, blocking sperm from getting into the uterus and getting to the egg.
Tri-Vylibra is a triphasic birth control pill. Our CEO and Co-Founder, Dr. Sophia Yen generally does not recommend triphasic because life is better on monophasic. Watch our video on Triphasics vs. monophasics here.
If you have high blood pressure or certain other conditions, Isibloom may not be your best choice. Dr. Yen and her team at Pandia Health often recommend alternative options including progestin-only pills, IUDs with hormones (Mirena, Liletta, Kyleena, Skyla), implants (nexplanon), the birth control shot (depo-provera), condoms, and/or spermicide.
There is no direct link between Tri-Vylibra and weight gain. Some women experience changes in their appetite that may lead to weight gain while taking Tri-Vylibra. Others may find that their bodies retain more fluid while taking Tri Estarylla, even though they actually don’t gain any body fat.
One of our Patient Care Advisors or licensed physicians will always review the medications and supplements you’re currently taking before prescribing Tri-Vylibra. Certain drugs (recreational, over-the-counter, or prescription) can interact with Tri-Vylibra and make it less effective at preventing pregnancy. Drugs that may interact with Tri Vylibra include HIV drugs, anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics, and even herbal supplements like St. John’s wort.
Women who have high blood pressure or take medications to control blood pressure should not take Tri-Vylibra. Our Pandia Health medical team recommends other options including progestin-only pill (POPs), IUDs with hormone (Mirena, Liletta, Kyleena, Skyla), copper IUDs, implants (nexplanon), the birth control shot (depo-provera), or condoms and spermicide.
You shouldn’t smoke anyway, but especially not if you take estrogen containing birth control pills like Tri-Vylibra. Smoking increases the risk of serious side effects like blood clots, especially in women who are older than 35.
Don’t take Tri-Vylibra if you’re allergic to any of its ingredients. Signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction to Tri-Vylibra are rare and usually very mild and may include itching, hives, or dizziness. Serious allergic reactions to Tri-Vylibra can occur in very rare cases. Stop taking Tri-Vylibra and call 911 immediately if you experience swelling in the lips, mouth, or tongue, or if you have a hard time breathing.
Tri-Vylibra isn’t for everyone. Women with a history of certain medical conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver cancer, or severe migraines should not take Tri-Vylibra. It’s not true that Tri-Vylibra causes infertility. If you’re taking Tri-Vylibra and want to have a baby, talk to your doctor and then stop taking the medication.
