Camila Birth Control Pills

Camila is a Progesterone Only Pill (POP) (oral contraceptive pill, OCP, birth control medication, birth control pill). This hormonal birth control works to prevent pregnancy by thickening the cervical mucus which blocks the sperm from getting into the uterus and creating a fertilized egg and by thinning the uterine lining (endometrium) such that if the egg/sperm hook up, there’s nowhere to stick and grow. Camila can also be prescribed to treat menstrual disorders caused by hormonal imbalance or endometriosis.

Lessina Birth Control Pills

Lessina is a “low dose” combination oral contraceptive pill (OCP, birth control medication, birth control pills). It prevents pregnancy by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation), and thickening the cervical mucus, blocking sperm from getting into the uterus and getting to the egg. Lessina is also prescribed to: treat acne, reduce the risk of ovarian cysts (as in polycystic ovarian syndrome [PCOS]), treat painful or heavy periods and more.

Tri Lo Sprintec Birth Control Pills

Tri Lo Sprintec is a triphasic combination oral contraceptive pill (OCP, birth control medication, birth control pills). Our CEO and Co-Founder, Dr. Sophia Yen generally does not recommend triphasics because life is better on monophasics. Watch our video on Triphasics vs. monophasics here. This is also a “low dose” combination oral contraceptive pill. At Pandia Health, we recommend at least 30 mcg of estrogen until you are 30 years old. If you go lower than that, it’s not good for your bones.

Larissia Birth Control Pills

Larissia birth control (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) is an oral contraceptive pill that works by preventing ovulation, which is what happens when an egg is released from the ovary. Larissia also makes it harder for sperm to reach the uterus by thickening the mucus in the cervix. Plus, Larissia makes it more difficult for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. Some women may also be prescribed Larissia to treat acne, alleviate heavy painful periods, reduce ovarian cysts (seen in conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome [PCOS]), and more.
