Portia is super easy to use. Simply take one pill every day, at the same time each day. Many women find that taking Portia before bedtime or just after their largest meal of the day helps reduce nausea and other side effects. After taking 21 days of active pills, you’ll switch to 7 inactive pills with no hormones. The inactive/placebo/bleeding week pills are there to help you in the habit of taking your pill every day.
Portia birth control pills have two main active ingredients: Levonogestrel 1.5 mg (progesterone) and Ethinyl Estradiol 30 mcg (estrogen).
The risks are very low, but some women have experienced unwanted side effects when taking Portia. Portia is a combined oral contraceptive pill with 0.15mg of levonorgestrel and 30 mcg of ethinyl estradiol. It prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation, thinning the uterine lining, thickening the cervical mucus (blocking the sperm from getting to the egg).
If you have high blood pressure or take blood pressure medications, this medication is NOT for you. Yes, Portia can help with acne by reducing circulating androgen (testosterone) levels. Androgens promote sebum production, an oil made by your skin. Too much sebum can lead to clogged pores, which create breeding grounds for acne.
